Gwonuk Lim is one of the many talented Physical Therapists here at WSPT. Gwonuk grew up in South Korea, where archeologists recovered the earliest known tools for acupuncture. [i] The youngest of three siblings, he was raised by his mother and father. 
Gwonuk knew after graduating high school that he wanted to be a physical therapist. He thought it was an excellent avenue towards Medical School; it would give him the flexibility to balance work and education, as well as give him the opportunity to help people in pain.
Gwonuk came to the U.S. in 2007 to pursue his education, attending the University of Pittsburgh. While Gwonuk was working towards his degree, he put an immense effort in learning the English language. He was awarded an MSPT degree, with a focus on musculoskeletal manipulation. He is most interested in injuries, diseases and therapy of the spine. He is looking to become a specialist in vestibular rehabilitation, a form of physical therapy focused on correcting chronic and debilitating conditions such as vertigo.
Gwonuk enjoys working at WSPT because he treats a diverse cross-section of the Bronx; patients presenting with all types of physical needs, medical histories, and personalities. He is grateful not to be working behind a desk; he benefits from being on his feet all day, and staying active.

When asked if he had any thoughts or suggestions on how to live a healthy lifestyle, Gwonuk replied, “Educate yourself on how to eat properly and exercise correctly.” Patients attending WSPT already have these tools at their fingertips; WSPT offers fitness and nutrition programs, as well as many wellness classes that provide the information and skills necessary to improve well-being at any stage of life.
